It Isn't So Simple Picking The Right Bike
There are many people who decide to cycle as a way to get from one place to another. Just because you are riding a bicycle from one point to another doesn't mean it's your preferred way to travel. Some people take up cycling in order to exercise. Some people are competitors in cycling. Still others ride bicycles as a hobby because they enjoy the feeling of riding a bicycle around their neighborhood. When deciding to purchase a cycling bicycle, there will be a number of elements that need to be taken into account, and this is true for those wishing to enjoy cycling as a hobby, sport, or a means of getting from point A to point B. This article provides some advice to help you along your way. No matter whether you happen to be interested in a girls 20 bike, perhaps a pink bicycle for a gift for your daughter or only looking over the best mountain bike reviews you need to obtain the best bike for your needs.
The first thing you need to do is try the bicycle on for size, meaning sit on it and make sure that your feet are still flat on the floor so you will be able to stop yourself. There are some people that say this isn't the best way to choose, though. These people explain that the best way to pick a bike is to ensure there is a few inches between the ground and your feet, and you will be provided with a much more comfortable ride. The seat will usually sit a little low and too close to the crossbar if you are able to bend your knees while your feet are on the ground and your backside is on the bicycle's seat. This is because when you are pedaling with this bike, your knees are going to come up too high. Which handlebars to go with is also a serious decision. As you probably know, there are many different types of handlebars. It's easier to handle a bike over rough terrain with handlebars that extend straight out. These handlebars will also distribute your weight over a big area. If you are going to be racing, however, you'll want handlebars that are slimmer and that force you to lean forward to create a more streamlined effect, which can help you go faster on the road. If you aren't going to be using your bicycle very often, you might simply opt for a handlebar style that feels comfortable and makes it easier to store your bicycle while you aren't using it.
You also want to make sure you leave some room between you and the crossbar of your bike. When you get a bike be sure to move the seat up a couple of inches from the crossbar. You should be able to still rest your feet flat on the floor. You will want to leave different clearance lengths depending on the type of bicycle you are buying. For example a touring bike will require around an inch. For mountain bikes you will require somewhere around 3 inches. When you are searching for the appropriate cycling bicycle to suit you, there are a number of factors to consider. Is this a bike you are going to be riding every single day or is it a bike you are only going to ride every now and them? Which height is most comfortable for you? Are you a person who would rather your feet be flat on the ground when you are sitting or would you rather have a little room between your feet and the ground? All of these factors will come into play as you make your choice.
