Market Product Simply Says Ewanick Of General Motors
Recovery is what everybody is focused on right now. Automakers aren't an exception, and it isn't easy. Ewanick, General Motors' Vice President of Marketing, explained this to Automotive News. GM has waded via bankruptcy and tremendous turnover, which might seem to make any deals intended simply to move product fast attractive. However, Ewanick insists that GM must focus on product strength and win back customers with quality instead of with discounts.
Make sure you know your brands
Focus on design and quality is slowly beginning to re-emerge out of the dust of the auto bailout, says Ewanick. For instance, brands such as Cadillac have had a unique sense of style for years, and customers appreciate this. Automotive brands that have been simply trying to sale have to start working on make recognition instead. Brands really have to try and become public and important again. Ewanick feels like "people buy brands, not necessarily products". Chevrolet previously used Americana in its marketing, and when that business may not really continue within the same vein, Ewanick believes that Chevy gets it - a product has to have soul that goes far beyond the numbers.
Nevertheless seeing the factory incentives
Factory and dealer incentives are far from dead, Ewanick says. Really he expects them to be unimportant compared to brand story. Discounts simply garnish the sales although sales really depend on style, quality, efficiency, dependability and other things that is a reminder of a car make. Focusing on brand strength will require that automakers rekindle a dialogue with customers. Stories are what automotive marketing used to get to customers before. Many of the very same elements of classic brands like Chevrolet's Corvette SS and Stingray are waiting to be introduced to younger generations of vehicle buyers.
